Shakira, who has a new album "She Wolf" coming out in U.S. on October 13, has been recruited as a performer at 2009 ALMA Awards. The singer is going to be joined by previously-announced musical acts David Archuleta, Nelly Furtado, Sean Kingston and Pitbull.

Special honorees for the event are also disclosed. Salma Hayek will be handed Anthony Quinn Award for Industry Excellence and Oscar de la Hoya is going to receive Special Achievement in Sports Television.

Celebrating the outstanding achievements of Latinos in entertainment, this year's ALMA Awards will take place on September 17 at Royce Hall on the UCLA campus and broadcast the next day at 8:00 - 10:00 P.M. EST on ABC. Beside recognizing Latin hottest talents in music, television and movie, the event will also host a tribute to late actor Ricardo Montalban.
