Catherine Hardwicke Not That Close to '21 Jump Street'
Movie

Setting things straight, Catherine Hardwicke's publicist states the director of 'Twilight' is currently not attached to the remake of the popular '80s TV series.

AceShowbiz - Catherine Hardwicke has not been attached to helm "21 Jump Street". While there was report suggesting that the "Twilight" helmer could land the directing job for the remake of the undercover cop TV series, her publicist has just told MTV that "it's too early" to say anything about her involvement in the film.

Variety and several other sites have pinned the filmmaker to the action comedy project, which is what was denied by her publicist when stating that Hardwicke "isn't attached" to the project. On August 20, The Hollywood Reporter said the filmmaker was "in early talks with Sony" to make the big screen version of the '80s TV series.

"21 Jump Street" is based on FOX series, starring Johnny Depp, which revolved around a group of cop who look young enough to work undercover in high schools and colleges and search out troubled kids. The script is currently developed by Jonah Hill alongside Joe Gazzam and Michael Bacall. Produced by Neal H. Moritz, the movie is planned for 2010 release.

While the possibility of Hardwicke's involvement in "21 Jump Street" is still unclear, she has indeed added another project to her directorial record. Following reports of her being in negotiation to direct "The Girl with the Red Riding Hood", the helmer is reported to have signed on to the reboot of classic fairy tale "Little Red Riding Hood".

Catherine Hardwicke has been attached to direct "Hamlet", a modern adaption of the William Shakespeare's novel. She also landed another directing job for Columbia Pictures' "Maximum Ride", before she was hired by Summit Entertainment to helm "If I Stay".
