Amidst the on-going investigation of the battery case that involves her and ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, Rihanna is confirmed to have been ordered to testify against him in a court hearing scheduled for next month. Her calling to take the stand against Chris is meant to determine if there is enough evidence to build a case against him, who is facing two counts of felony assault.
Rihanna's attorney, Donald Etra, confirmed the matter, telling E! News on Thursday, May 28 that the Barbadian songstress is required to testify at a preliminary hearing set to be held on June 22. "The judge advised me that there will be a subpoena for Rihanna as a witness at the preliminary hearing," Etra said, adding, "She will definitely comply."
Chris himself is also scheduled to attend the hearing. "He has to be here anytime a witness is called," his attorney Mark Geragos confirmed. In related news, E! News reported that in addition to Rihanna, the D.A. is expected to call the officers who were first to respond to the scene and find the bloodied and abandoned "Umbrella" hitmaker.
Chris Brown was briefly arrested in February this year for assaulting Rihanna. He has since been put under Los Angeles District Attorney's Office's investigation. Pleading not guilty to two felonies; assault and making criminal threats, he is facing a possible 4 years and 8 months in prison should he is found guilty in the case.
