The first runner up of 'American Idol' this season and Ellen DeGeneres revealed how they adore each other and how Ellen loved his reaction when he was not called as the winner.

Ellen DeGeneres was one of the early birds to strike a deal for an interview with "American Idol" runner-up, Adam Lambert. Just two days after he lost to Kris Allen, Adam called in to "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" to talk about how he feels being in the second position despite the fact that many had predicted him to win.
"We all love you here," Ellen opened the conversation in the middle of the roar from in-studio audience. Adam responded, "I love you guys." Then Ellen did most of the talking, saying "I have to say, first of all, I think Kris is fantastic, and I know you feel the same." Adam said, "I'm a huge fan."
Ellen went on praising how Adam reacted when Ryan Seacrest announced that winner was not him. "The way people were talking and the way you reacted when his name was called, it was like you were his dad," she said. "You were so genuinely happy for him they way you kind of grabbed his shoulders and hugged him, and I thought you were so gracious. I just want to say I loved how you handled that."
"Thank you. I was really mentally prepared to have whatever happen, happen," Lambert said in return, adding that Kris was probably more shocked than he was that he had to "shake" the winner a little bit. In a prior interview, Kris said that Adam reminded him that as a winner he had to sing the coronation song, "No Boundaries".
As the spokesperson of CoverGirl, Ellen slipped in a little bit of product endorsement. She said, "If you're going to continue to wear makeup, may I suggest CoverGirl and Olay Simply Ageless Foundation." Adam laughed at the joke and then Ellen added, "There is one thing that I have a problem with. You're going to be responsible for, next year, so many men showing up wearing nail polish and eyeliner thinking that that's all it takes. I predict we're going to see so many men wearing makeup next year thinking, 'Well, they like it. People want to see men doing that.'"
Towards the end of the conversation, Ellen wished him luck and Adam said that he was wearing the underwear that Ellen gave him on the blue carpet.
