Christian Dior has dropped her from its Chinese adverts, and she is quick to issue a public apology concerning her so-called "karma" remark.

AceShowbiz - Words come back to haunt Sharon Stone. In the wake of the controversial remarks she made about China's earthquake at the Cannes Film Festival last week, Chistian Dior said Thursday, May 29 it has dropped the actress from its Chinese ads.

Stone herself was quick to issue a public apology through the French fashion house, said she was "deeply sorry" for causing anguish and anger among Chinese people with her remarks, saying China's earthquake may have been bad karma for its treatment of Tibet, in an interview last week. The U.S. actress moreover also offered to help with the earthquake relief effort.

"My erroneous words and deeds angered and saddened the Chinese people, and I sincerely apologize for this," she said in the statement, issued in Chinese and sent to AFP Thursday. "I'm willing to participate in any earthquake relief activity and to do my utmost to help Chinese people affected by the disaster," she added.

Stone, who models for Christian Dior ad campaign for anti-aging products, addressed Chinese's recent earthquake that killed at least 67,000 people at the Cannes Film Festival last week, branded it as bad "karma" after Beijing's policy in Tibet.

"I'm not happy about the way the Chinese are treating the Tibetans because I don't think anyone should be unkind to anyone else," Stone said at that time. "I've been concerned about how should we deal with the Olympics, because they are not being nice to the Dalai Lama, who is a good friend of mine. And then all this earthquake and all this stuff happened, and I thought, is that karma - when you're not nice that the bad things happen to you?"

The remarks caused anguish and anger among Chinese people and in the Chinese media. China's largest cinema chain, UME Cineplex, soon thereafter banned Stone's films from filming in any UME cinema in Hong Kong or the mainland.
