AceShowbiz - Sharon Stone is showing that her generosity and empathy match her talent. As Los Angeles faces devastating wildfires, the "Basic Instinct" actress has transformed her home into a refuge while launching a support initiative for those affected by the crisis.
In a heartfelt interview with NewsNation, Sharon Stone revealed her hands-on approach to aid victims of the fires that have razed parts of Pacific Palisades, Hollywood Hills, and Eaton Canyon.
"I've been taking friends into my home. I have families coming now to move in with us," she shared, highlighting her immediate response to the disaster. Stone's efforts include setting up beds and creating space to accommodate evacuees legally and comfortably.
In collaboration with her sister and a publicist friend, Stone has partnered with a store called The Coop on Beverly Boulevard. This venue is being used as a distribution center where people can drop off donations or receive much-needed items.
"If you have gently used clothes, shoes, bedding, anything that these disenfranchised people may need, please come immediately to The Coop," said Stone, urging the community to support those in dire need. Stone's initiative has already kick-started, with The Coop opening its doors to contributions starting from 10 a.m. PT on Thursday.
The numbers paint a grim picture: more than 130,000 people evacuated, over 1,000 structures destroyed, and tragically, at least five lives lost. Celebrities like Paris Hilton, Jhene Aiko, and Heidi Montag are among those who have lost their homes.
Paris Hilton shared her heartbreak on Instagram, mirroring the collective grief of countless families. "Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience," she posted.
Stone's son, Roan, joined her in the interview, expressing deep gratitude for their safety and emphasizing the importance of giving back. "We're in a safe place, and I think we're so blessed to be in a safe place when many aren't," he said. "I think all that we can do as people who are in a safe place is give back, especially to those who have lost everything."
As the fire continues to spread, the need for community support becomes more urgent. Sharon Stone's compassionate actions serve as an exhortation for others to come together and aid those in distress. Whether through providing shelter, donating essentials, or simply offering moral support, every effort counts.
