Skin care company Hydroderm is suing Teri Hatcher for $2,806,952 for an alleged breach of contract.

AceShowbiz - A US cosmetics company is suing Teri Hatcher for $2.4 million for breach of contract.

Skin care company Hydroderm filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court Tuesday December 4th against the "Desperate Housewives" star, accused her of breaking an advertising contract by promoting a rival brand's lip gloss.

It is stated in the lawsuit that Hatcher signed a contract with Hydroderm back in November 2005 to promote their cosmetic and anti-aging products under certain conditions that she would not use "among other things, her name, voice, autograph, image or likeness to, among other things, promote, endorse, market or adverstise skin care products manufactured or marketed by Hydroderm's competitors."

However, the company claimed Hatcher violated the deal by endorsing a lip-plumping product produced by City Cosmetics, which according to the lawsuit, is in "direct competition" with Hydroderm's lip enhancer.

Hatcher is said to have posed for photographs and talked up the rival company's products in interviews, specifically praising a City Cosmetics lip gloss which competes with Hydroderm's own lip product.

Hence, Hydroderm who paid Hatcher for $2.4 million to be their celebrity endorser, as well as an additional $406,952 in additional expenses related to the deal, want their money back. The lawsuit asks for a total of $2,806,952 from Hatcher.

A representative for Hatcher issued a statement to Access Hollywood regarding that encounter, claimed the "allegations of this lawsuit are totally false and completely without merit."
