A big screen movie actress, Claire Danes is heading for Broadway, about to make her stage debut later this year in the Roundabout Theatre Company's upcoming Broadway revival of George Bernard Shaw's "Pygmalion."

The movie beauty is set to play the role of Eliza Doolittle, made famous on the screen by Audrey Hepburn in 1964. She will star opposite Tony Award-winning actor Jefferson Mays who's going to portray Henry Higgins.

"Pygmalion" premiered on Broadway in 1914 and was adapted into the musical "My Fair Lady" in 1956. The story follows Professor Higgins' bid to transform Doolittle, a poor and uneducated English girl, into a society lady. Has been booked to direct is David Grindley.

"Pygmalion" goes into previews at the AmericanAirlines Theater on September 21st, and then opens on October 18th for a two-month run.

Danes is currently starring in the drama "Evening" and will be seen later this year in the big budget fantasy drama "Stardust."
