'Wizards of Waverly Place' Receives More Episodes

Disney Channel is having confidence in "Wizards of Waverly Place" that it extends the contract of third season for eight more episodes. The series starring Selena Gomez, David Henrie and Jake T. Austin, thus, goes from 78 episodes to a total of 86 episodes.

"The appeal of 'Wizards' is simple: It's our extraordinary cast," Gary Marsh, President Entertainment for Disney Channels Worldwide said in the press release. "This is undoubtedly one of the strongest comedic ensembles on television When you couple that with an incredibly gifted writing and producing team, the result is pure comedic magic."

'Wizards of Waverly Place' Season 3 Premieres on October 9

It has been announced that "Wizards of Waverly Place" will be back for a third season on October 9. The premiere episode is called "Franken-girl" where Justin got so fed-up by Alex constantly going through his stuff that he creates a female monster to guard his room and to think like Alex.

The October slate will also coincide the month of Halloween. On the October 30 episode, Justin begins his Monster Hunting course and gets more than he bargains for when Juliet and her vampire family turn out to be the three monsters he's searching for.

Selena Gomez and her on-screen brother David Henrie give fans of "Wizards of Waverly Place" a sneak peek to the third season. Alex has a new BFF whom Justin is not fond of and after encountering vampires in the second season, the oldest of the Russo siblings will fight monsters. Additionally, Alex and Harper are moving in together.

Disney Channel has not yet announced a premiere date for the third season or the release date for the second season's DVD. The first episode of the new season allegedly will be called "Three Little Monsters".

The first part of the vampire saga on "Wizards of Waverly Place" is previewed. Disney Channel will air 4 episodes that welcome a vampire family to the neighborhood, starting with "Wizards vs. Vampires on Waverly Place" that airs Friday, July 24.

When a new sandwich shop (the Late Night Bite) opens in Waverly Place, Justin falls in love with the owner's daughter, Juliet. But when his family finds out that they are vampires both parents say they can't date. Bridgit Mendler guest stars as Juliet.

A new and vintage promo of "Wizards of Waverly Place" is aired on Disney Channel. A family of Alien has landed on Waverly Place and only one human can stop them. The episode, which has no official synopsis or title yet, is slated to air on Friday, July 10.

The new episode is part of the summer-long program for the series which will have its TV movie premiered on August 1. "Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie" chronicles the journey of the Russo family while vacationing in a Caribbean resort. Alex accidentally wishes her parents to have never met at the first place, jeopardizing the three siblings' existence.

"Wizards of Waverly Place" is coming earlier this week, with the episode called "Don't Poke the Leprechaun- Shillelagh". In the Friday, May 29 episode, Harper becomes jealous when Alex becomes friends with Max's tutor, ironically named Tutor.

Jerry hires the tutor to help Max pass a test at school, and Alex and Justin start bonding with her. They scheme to get her a permanent job with the family, so they can spend more time with her, but the plan involves Max failing a test. Meanwhile, Alex bets Justin that he couldn't become popular in 10 days or less.

'Wizards of Waverly Place' Back to Disney Channel With 3rd Season

More magic are coming to Disney Channel. "Wizards of Waverly Place" which is starring Selena Gomez as the middle of the wizard family siblings, has been renewed for a third season. Additionally, the series will follow its predecessor "Hannah Montana" to have a made-for-TV original film.

While details on the third season of the TV series are scarce, more are shared on the TV movie. It will be called "Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie" and will premiere in August. Filming has been taking place in Puerto Rico earlier this year with the story of the Russo kids as they embark on a vacation to the Caribbean resort where their parents met.

In the next "Wizards of Waverly Place", a hand is created to help the elderly to earn an official spell certificate, literally. Justin invents "helping hand" that proves to be handful when Alex wears the device out by having it do her chores before Justin can present it to the spell superintendent.

Meanwhile, Max becomes Gigi's personal assistant and is forced to get her a new boyfriend after she breaks up with her old one, Brett, at the beginning of the episode. Titled "Helping Hand", the episode will air February 16 during Disney Channels' "Night of Stars". The show kicks it off at 7/6c right before an episode of "Hannah Montana".

Disney Channel had their stars coming out to celebrate the New Year's Eve with "Totally New Year". Cast of "Wizards of Waverly Place", Selena Gomez, David Henrie, Jake T. Austin, and Jennifer Stone, served as the host of the show that aired starting 5 P.M. ET.

Beside entertaining viewers while counting down to the year 2009, "Totally New Year" presented an awards show which winners were selected through an online poll at Disney.com. Among the categories given out are Totally Best Guest, Totally Silly Siblings, Totally Hair-Raising and Totally Random Relatives.

"Wizards of Waverly Place" will still be airing on Disney Channel until the end of the year, with an episode called "Plan B". The last episode of 2008 will air on December 31, showing what Alex and Justin prefer to be in case they don't make it to become a wizard.

The official synopsis is read: "When Mr. Stuffleby, a wizard guidance counselor, informs the kids that they must have a viable profession to fall back on in the event that they don't become wizards, Max chooses to become a street magician while Alex and Justin decide to form a band. They all test their skills by hosting a Waverly After Dark performance at the Sub Station."
