Eric Mabius: ABC Neglected 'Ugly Betty'
February 08, 2011 09:02:06Actor Eric Mabius has lashed out at U.S. TV executives over the cancellation of "Ugly Betty" last year, accusing them of neglecting the cast. Bosses at ABC stunned the stars and fans of the show in January last year by announcing the programme's fourth season would be its last.
Several of the cast members went public with their disappointment about the cancellation ahead of the final episode, which aired in America in April. Mabius, who played magazine boss Daniel Meade, has now opened up about the axing of the show, revealing the stars of the programme felt "battered about" by network chiefs and were devastated by the snub.

TV Marathons and Specials on 4th of July
July 03, 2010 01:07:34Those intending to stay put at home for the 4th of July weekend will be treated with a TV series marathon. Some of them are specials in celebration of independence day while some are re-runs because networks prefer to skip the holiday due to typically lowest TV ratings of the year.
This Sunday, PBS would bring special program "America's Orchestra: Celebrating 125 Years of the Boston Pops" at 6/5c, followed by "A Capitol Fourth" in the next hour. NBC would air the annual "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular" at 8/7c, featuring performances by Justin Bieber, Enrique Iglesias and LeAnn Rimes among others. CBS meanwhile takes over the 9/8c slot with "Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular".

Vanessa Williams Supports America Ferrera's Idea for 'Ugly Betty' Movie
April 20, 2010 10:04:08"Ugly Betty" actress Vanessa Williams has joined her former co-stars America Ferrera and Ana Ortiz on a crusade to bring the canceled U.S. TV series to the big screen. Williams gave her final performance as fashion boss Wilhelmina Slater in the April 14 series finale, and bid farewell to her castmates of four years.
She says, "We did not want to leave. Our last week, none of us wanted to leave the table. None of us wanted to finish the words we were saying." Ortiz recently admitted she and America Ferrera are "open" to the idea of making an "Ugly Betty" film, and Williams is keen to join the pair's campaign.

April 01, 2010 04:04:32The stars of "Ugly Betty" were spotted filming in Queens, NYC for presumably the series' finale. The Wednesday, March 31 shooting was done outside Betty's house and it included the actors portraying the Suarez clan; America Ferrera, Ana Ortiz, Mark Indelicato and Tony Plana.
Additionally, Adam Rodriguez whose character Bobby is going to marry Ortiz's Hilda in next week's episode, was seen having a toast with the family. Ryan McGinnis' Austin aka the new crush of Indelicato's Justin was also in the crowd. During the filming, Ortiz brought along her baby Paloma Louise to the location.

Canceled 'Ugly Betty' to Be Given Proper Ending

The current fourth season will be the last fans will see of America Ferrera, Vanessa Williams, Eric Mabius and the rest of the Mode gang. The show's episode order which was placed at 22 is now trimmed to 20.
However, in a joint statement released on Wednesday, January 27, creator Silvio Horta and ABC president Steve McPherson said that they will give the show a proper ending. "We've mutually come to the difficult decision to make this 'Ugly Betty's' final season," they said. "And (we) are announcing now as we want to allow the show ample time to write a satisfying conclusion. We are extremely proud of this groundbreaking series, and felt it was important to give the fans a proper farewell."
