Netflix Won't Revive 'Terra Nova'
March 28, 2012 10:03:53After holding on a hope that Netflix would pick it up, "Terra Nova" looks pretty much dead now. Multiple sources said that the streaming service has opted to pass on reviving the prehistoric dino series since a deal could not be reached in the talks with studio 20th Century Fox TV.
According to TV Guide, budgeting issue is only one of the sticking points in the discussions. Additionally, a source revealed that international broadcasters may not have been keen on the idea of Netflix serving as the sole U.S. "broadcaster" of "Terra Nova".

March 08, 2012 01:03:41Just a few days after FOX decided to cancel the second season of "Terra Nova", another channel already expressed interest to revive the pricey prehistoric drama. Deadline reported that video streaming giant, Netflix, is currently having a discussion with 20th Century Fox TV to save the dinosaur series from extinction.
Multiple sources revealed that the discussion is still in the early stage and it is still unclear whether the two parties would materialize it into a formal negotiation. Should the deal be made, it will mark 20th and Netflix's new partnership after the streaming company recently revived "Arrested Development", another high-end series axed by FOX.

Though FOX canceled the big-budgeted sci-fi series, it does not necessarily mean the end of the show. Studio 20th Century Fox TV says it's trying to keep "Terra Nova" alive by shopping it to other networks.

Jason O'Mara Wants 'Terra Nova' to Use 'Kick-A** Dinosaurs' in Season 2
January 26, 2012 03:01:21"Terra Nova" is yet to be picked up for a second season, but Jason O'Mara has had some ideas to improve the show. Speaking at a New York premiere for his new action comedy film "One for the Money" on Monday, January 23, the Jim Shannon of the prehistoric-set drama series revealed that he hopes the show will use better dinosaurs if it returns for a new chapter.
"When we use dinosaurs, I really hope they're completely kick-a** dinosaurs - no half-hearted dinosaurs," the 39-year-old actor told TVLine. He even thought that "maybe it's better to have a totally awesome dinosaur in [just] one episode, rather than seeing a dinosaur every episode that isn't quite there."

'Terra Nova' Close to Sign Key Actors for Season 2 While Awaiting Renewal

Jim is hit by the blast and wakes up three days later only to find out that Phoenix soldiers have taken command of the colony.

But the creatures will be different from those which have been seen in dinosaur films since the creative team is drawing on earlier fossils for their character designs.

'Terra Nova' Pushed Back to Add Visual Effects

FOX has pushed the premiere date from its original May 23 premiere to Fall because they need more time to work on the visual effects. The series actually was set for winter 2010 but FOX announced in August that year that it wouldn't premiere until midseason.
This time, the net's President of Entertainment Kevin Reilly said, "Terra Nova is one of the most ambitious television series ever produced. The cutting-edge visual effects used to create the world of 'Terra Nova', which is of massive scope and scale, require more time to be realized. This aspect of the series is essential, so we are pushing back the special early preview date to give the visual effects team the time needed for their ground-breaking work."

Steven Spielberg's 'Terra Nova' to Film in Australia
August 11, 2010 10:08:38Steven Spielberg is returning to prehistoric times - he is heading Down Under to shoot a new dinosaur epic for the small screen. The director, who is famous for his blockbuster "Jurassic Park" movies, will work with the extinct reptiles again in "Terra Nova" - an expensive series which will see scientists return to prehistoric Earth.
Spielberg has chosen south-east Queensland in Australia as the location for his new show, which will air on the FOX network and is reported to cost a staggering $4 million-per-episode. Fox Television executive vice president of production, Jim Sharp, says, "Queensland had the right look, climate and terrain, a vibrant production community and attractive economic incentives. We are very excited to be shooting our first production there."
