'The L Word' Spawns a Reality Series

Showtime is exploring the lesbian world in Los Angeles through a new reality show. The project is based on the network's series "" that ended its run earlier this year with the sixth season. Titled "The Real L Word: Los Angeles", the show has had nine episodes in order for a debut sometime next year.

Creator of "L Word" Ilene Chaiken takes responsibility as producer of this reality under production house Magical Elves. "Showtime has yet again come forward to continue with us this mission to entertain and enlighten and bring more 'L' to the world," Chaiken said.

Showtime Says No to 'The L Word' Spin-Off

Although Showtime has been the house for "" for six seasons, the network won't take its successor. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Showtime has narrowed down their pilots schedule and excluded the spin-off which is tentatively titled "The Farm" and centers on Alice.

The decision was informed to the producer of the show, Ilene Chaiken, earlier this week. Showtime said that it has decided not to go forward with the pilot. However, "The Farm" is not the only one passed on. -starring "The End of Steve" is also out of the frame. The producers of "Steve" will pitch it around to other cable networks and allegedly, HBO is interested.

The March 3 event was made in the package of a movie premiere, with the stars gracing the red carpet for photo sessions before going inside the venue.

More Details Unveiled About 'The L Word' Spin-Off

The death of Jenny in the sixth season of "" will not only serve as one of the story lines of the series but it will most likely also be the beginning for the spin-off's. In a press conference for the show, Showtime president Robert Greenblatt revealed that Alice who will go center stage in the spin-off, will be heading to prison.

The best guess is, Alice got convicted related to the murder of Jenny. But Leisha Hailey who portrays Alice, believes that she is actually innocent in the case. "That's where I stand. I was a wide-eyed, scared victim. I was walking through this brand new world that obviously I was going to be staying in for a very long time. It's going to be a lot about how I fit in," she said.

A set of images to promote the sixth season of "" that will premiere January 18 at 9/8c, has come out. Coming back for the final season are the show's principal characters such as Shane, Helena, Alice, Bette, Tina, Kit, Tasha and also Jenny, the latest who is portrayed dead in the promo video.

Jenny, played by , will appear in a series of flashbacks after her scene where her lifeless body is carried on a stretcher is aired. Jenny is found face-down in a swimming pool and a female police will be investigating the case. According to the caption by Showtime, "one of the friends will take the fall" and friendships will be put to test. The series will begin with flashbacks of the months leading up to the murder.

The final season of "" will claim a life, and the unfortunate one is finally unveiled. Showtime, the network that airs the lesbian drama series, have released a sneak peek to the first episode that will air January 18, showing that one of the main characters, Jenny, is found face-down in a swimming pool.

A female police officer comes over to investigate the case and the friends have gathered in the living room to be questioned. Jenny's body then is brought on a stretcher to the room, creating a tense atmosphere to the women that include Kit, Bette, Tina, Shane, Alice, and Helena.

"" is coming closer to its sixth season finale and a second promo for the new chapter has arrived. Showtime, the network that airs the lesbian drama series, gives the sneak peek along with a clue that "one of our favorites will take their last breath and one of the friends will take the fall". This explains the quick flash of a body wrapped under silk that was merged in the first promo.

The fifth season ended in March this year with Jenny feeling the 'ultimate betrayal' from Shane. The plot for the first episode of sixth season however, is not yet released. It will start invading the small screen on January 18, 2009 but unlike the previous seasons, this time Showtime will wrap it up with 8 episodes only before it concludes the whole show with a series finale in February.

'The L Word' to Have Spin-Off Starring Leisha Hailey

Stemming out from the popular gay TV show by Showtime, "", is a spin-off starring Leisha Hailey. Very much like Joey having his own show after "Friends" ended in 2004, the spin-off will center its story around one of "L Word" characters, Alice Pieszecki.

The pilot script for the not-yet-titled spin-off will be tackled by the "L Word" original creator and writer Ilene Chaiken, while the filming is scheduled to start in December. No clue yet on how the story will go or whether it will pick up where "L Word" left off.
