To mark their two-month anniversary, Luke and Prudence return to Las Vegas and the chapel where they were wed, this time with Lizzy in tow. When they arrive, Lizzy can't help but point out that something doesn't look right. Turns out, she's correct. The woman at the desk reveals the chapel was actually a front for the mob and that none of the weddings performed there are legal. With her visa set to expire in a week, Prudence says she and Luke must get married as soon as possible if she's going to stay in the country. Luke suggests going to a chapel across the street, but Lizzy says she can throw them a proper wedding in a week's time. Luke admits he would like to do some things traditionally, like asking Prudence's dad for his blessing or even properly proposing. Prudence agrees and happily accepts Luke's proposal, complete with a gummy-candy ring courtesy of Lizzy.

Back at home, Lizzy sets a high bar for best men everywhere when she surprises Luke by flying in Prudence's dad so Luke can ask for his daughter's hand in marriage. Luke heads into the living room and begins describing his love for Prudence to Martin Baines from Splitwick, England, but he's interrupted by Prudence's arrival. She gasps upon seeing Martin, and Lizzy explains that she's behind the surprise. But the surprise is actually on Lizzy: Martin isn't Prudence's dad; he's her ex-husband. Or rather, he's her current husband because Martin admits he never signed the divorce papers.

Luke is furious with Prudence for hiding the fact that she was married before, but Prudence says she only kept it a secret because she was trying to erase her past. When Luke turns on Lizzy for the mix-up, she passes the blame back to Prudence, who said her dad was named Martin. Prudence admits she took Martin's last name and kept it because her maiden name gave her a lot of grief growing up. After learning that name - Prudence Merlizabeth Hardmeat-Buttswallow - Luke and Lizzy have to admit she made the right choice. Before the situation can get any more out of hand, Luke says he's going to get in Martin's face and force him to sign the divorce papers. Prudence warns him that Martin can be quite shifty, but Luke is not deterred. Unfortunately, Prudence is proven correct when Martin successfully talks Luke in circles, even getting Luke to agree to buy him a drink.

At the bar, Lizzy says their only hope is to get Martin so drunk he won't know what he's signing. With the help of Luke, Prudence, Leisha, Roy and Marcus, Lizzy keeps Martin drinking well into the evening, until he's so drunk he's practically carried home by Luke. After Luke props Martin up on the couch, Lizzy grabs the divorce papers and tries to sweet-talk Martin into signing them, encouraging him to move on and calling him handsome and a catch. Lizzy succeeds in drawing Martin's attention away from Prudence, but he passes out before he can sign anything.

The next morning, Luke and Prudence are surprised to find that Martin's affections have moved onto Lizzy, but they recognize that this could help them. Luke begs Lizzy to take one for the team and play along with Martin just to get him to sign the papers. She begrudgingly agrees and tells Martin that she won't be able to engage in "boy/girl sex" with him again until he's no longer married to Prudence. Happy to sign the papers now, Martin rubs in his newfound romance, telling Prudence he always knew he'd do better than her. Prudence counters that she only married him to get out of a bad situation; why else would she say "I do" after only three days? The revelation is not lost on Luke, who confronts Prudence while Lizzy scares Martin away with the news that she's a pregnant lesbian.

Luke says he doesn't know what to believe anymore after learning Prudence married Martin after only a few days, too. He asks her point-blank if she only married him to avoid getting deported. Prudence promises that's not the case; she only wants to stay in the country to be with him. But Luke's not buying it and not even Prudence's declaration of love can convince him otherwise. After he storms out, Prudence tearfully confesses to Lizzy that it's just the two of them now. Suddenly, Martin being a part of the family doesn't seem so bad to Lizzy.
