Kyle's abilities take a leap forward in the most curious way. Years before Stephen had severed his relationship with his dad. But when his father is hospitalized in a coma, Stephen visits him and takes Kyle along.

Amazingly Kyle seems to be able to read Stephen's dad's mind and is able to help the two reconcile before it's too late. Jessi too is talking leaps forward, but not in the way Madacorp and Ballatine would like to see. For the first time since she was released from her pod, she seems to be developing empathy and real human feelings.

Sensing this, Emily begs Ballantine to take her off the job; instead he demands that Emily bring Jessi in for "re-booting."
