Hank is ready to attack the day with his trusty "to do" list which includes things like fixing the toilet with Henry, prepping for the SAT with Maddie and teaching Tilly how to change a tire. Unfortunately, Henry would rather play video games, Maddie wants to hit the mall and Tilly, well, let's just say she's not all that into lug nuts.

Reuben and Travis, two of Funk Construction's finest, show up at the Pryor house to widen the staircase. Hank wants to supervise, but the workers don't want a babysitter. Tilly convinces her hubby to try to relax, but Hank's never been very good at that. Drastic measures must be taken. And by drastic, we mean Grady.

Tilly promises to take care of things at home while Grady takes Hank hunting. The men head off to a little cabin in the Virginia woods where Grady promptly takes a seat and cracks open a beer. To him, this is what hunting is all about, especially since he forgot the ammo.

Undeterred, Hank wants his little girl to have some work ethic and Grady mentions the ice cream place at the mall is hiring. Brandon, the 23-year-old weekend manager at Chilly Charlie's, hires Maddie on the spot. Hank is thrilled. Maddie...not so much. Hank tries to inspire her by saying, "Nobody's too good for any job." So, when Brandon asks Maddie is she knows anyone else with that "super scooper attitude," Maddie recommends her dad. Brandon loves the idea, as corporate has been pushing him to hire the elderly.

Hank has a rough first day. His first customer is Grady who gets treated to the mandatory song and dance Hank must do anytime he gets a tip. Let's just say you won't be seeing Hank Pryor's little jig on Dancing with the Stars anytime soon. It is pretty funny though.

Hank eventually gets into the ice cream gig. He loves the fact that he's working again, even though his hands often look like claws after six hours of scooping. Even Maddie can't help but be a little impressed by her dad's passion. Unfortunately, Hank gets a little too enthusiastic. His constant suggestions on how to improve business wear thin on Brandon, who fires him.

Maddie tries to convince her boss to give her dad another chance, but it's a no-go. She comes home later with her first paycheck in hand. Hank is so proud of his daughter. And even Maddie seems to be proud of her achievement. Hank thanks his little girl for standing up for him at the ice cream parlor. She says, "Oh, well, you know... you're my dad."

This touching little father-daughter exchange gave us all a little lump in the throat that was quickly pushed out by a laugh, as Hank tries to hide his tears by meekly saying, "Don't look at me." It's moments like this that have us feeling the next episode of Hank can't get here soon enough.

You do realize that when we say "soon" it's the good "soon" and not Tilly's deal, right?
