Will's financial reality is starting to sink in. Instead of dropping the usual $300 for distressed denim, he's going all out and doing his own distressing. When Fiona stops to ask what he's doing, Will notices her unusual outfit looks unusually scanty. Is Fiona crushing on Mr. Chris? Will encourages Fiona to put it out there. Instead of waiting for Mr. Chris to ask her out, she should ask him. It takes all the courage Fiona has to pop the question, and when Mr. Chris hesitates, she assumes his answer is no. Quite the contrary; Mr. Chris has wanted to ask her out since they kissed, but he didn't want to overstep. Since Fiona has made the first move, Mr. Chris will plan their date tomorrow: a hike to a picnic spot. Overjoyed, Fiona breaks into tears, then claims she's got Wet Eye Syndrome before running away.

Will spies Dakota heading to Fiona's for a yoga session, and she is looking hot. Remembering that her sex-free nomadic year is coming to an end, Will volunteers to help. This time around, Dakota wants to be wooed, so Will promises to upgrade his booty call to a woo-ty call. Tomorrow night, Will's going to woo the crap out of Dakota. After yoga, Fiona tells Dakota that she's worried she'll screw up her date with Mr. Chris. Dakota is just agreeing to chaperone when Will busts in. His woo-nami just became a double date. After a big fight, Fiona and Will lay down some ground rules: they'll stay out of each other's way and won't embarrass one another. Will can cut loose with Dakota when Fiona feels ready to be alone with Mr. Chris.

Laurie and Andy babysit Marcus while Fiona's on her date. Marcus wastes no time getting Andy in dutch with Laurie, who thought he was shopping for minivans yesterday, not playing video games with Will. Marcus drops another bomb, sharing the bro-code "DTL," which stands for "don't tell Laurie." When strained silence descends over the angry couple, Marcus suggests playing I Always Wondered, and they take turns asking each other questions. Apparently, Andy and Laurie met in pre-law class, which Andy only took because he had a massive crush on Laurie. Finally discovering how it all started, Laurie's heart melts and domestic bliss is restored... for now.

Fiona and Mr. Chris chat effortlessly on the first leg of the hike, so Will talks Dakota into ditching them. But when Dakota forbids Fiona from playing her ukulele, the crippling anxiety returns and the double date is back on. Mr. Chris' chivalrous perfection irritates Will so much that he falls in a river, twisting his ankle. When Fiona starts telling Mr. Chris about an unfortunate hookworm incident, Dakota pulls her aside. First dates are all about getting to second dates. Maybe Fiona should try agreeing with everything Mr. Chris says. Even though Fiona thinks this move is dishonest, she embraces it whole hog... until things start to misfire when the sun goes down and the picnic starts. It all comes to a head when Mr. Chris pulls out his specially prepared Peking Duck, which Fiona claims to love. Knowing Fiona's vegetarian, Will starts teasing until she hurls the duck into the dark woods in a fit of frustration. When Will follows to ask Fiona why she keeps tripping up his game, she sadly admits she never dates. She really likes Mr. Chris and she doesn't want to screw it up. Will reminds Fiona that she's smart and beautiful; she should just be herself.

When Fiona returns with the duck, a confused Mr. Chris asks if she's dating Will. Fiona decides to come clean: she hates duck and she doesn't have Wet Eye Syndrome... but she does like Mr. Chris. The truth is she's weird, and she'd prefer to be herself. Fiona whips out her uke and starts singing Joni Mitchell. Dakota and Will think it's the end, but Mr. Chris pulls out a flute and starts harmonizing. Dakota melts while Will's lips curl back in terror.

Later that night, Marcus tells Fiona that he used to want a bigger family, but he's changed his mind. Life is perfect with just the two of them. That's when Fiona gets a text from Mr. Chris: "Can't wait to jam again soon! Just the two of us next time?"
