'Breaking Bad' Final Season Gets Premiere Date

The fifth and final season of "" is indeed going to be split into two parts. AMC has officially announced that the last chapter of the crime drama series will start Sunday, July 15 at 10/9c with eight new episodes, and end with eight more episodes in summer 2013.

Expressing his excitement at the show's return, comedian took to Twitter to write, "BREAKING BAD IS BACK JULY 15TH! F**K YES." Sharing the sentiment, fellow fan retweeted the "" star's post.

The long speculated two separate runs of "" final season have been confirmed by the show's lead actor, . "We're splitting it," the Emmy Award winner shared. "We're going to shoot the first eight, then take a four-month production break, then the rest will air next year."

AMC has not officially announced the split, but a studio spokesperson has said the four-month production hiatus is "one scenario" that's being considered. According to Entertainment Weekly, the network "wants to divide the final season so it has a strong summer drama airing this year and the next."

According to The Daily Beast, in the new season "Walt and Jesse have to deal with the consequences of their actions, as Walt squares off with Gus and Jesse becomes increasingly aloof. The renewal news is confirmed by THR following Variety's report that AMC and Sony Pictures TV are "on the verge" of announcing the pick-up.

With critical acclaims that the series have achieved and the constant rise in rating, the series is a power to AMC. The only hesitation in producing another season is the cost. One episode is roughly taking $3 million which is comparably high for basic cable dramas. Thus, AMC and the studio had to arrange the budgeting before landing a decision with the agreement of AMC paying for budget overruns.
