Slash Gives Honor to Japanese People's Resiliency

Visiting the country after the earthquake and tsunami disasters, Slash paid tribute to people's toughness over the tragic tragedy.

Rocker Slash has paid tribute to the resiliency of the Japanese people after finding himself in the middle of the country's recent earthquake and tsunami disasters. The former Guns N' Roses star performed a concert in Osaka days after the country was devastated by the natural disasters on March 11, which claimed the lives of an estimated 18,000, but he was forced to scrap three shows in Tokyo and Yokohama.

And now he admits flying to Japan on the weekend immediately after the devastation was a "surreal" experience. He tells Britain's Kerrang! magazine, "It's one of the most surreal, unnerving events that has happened in recent years. It's displaced so many people, not to mention claiming so many lives, and it's really tragic."

He adds, "I honestly feel that the Japanese are so f**king resilient that they'll get through it, but, God, what a painful experience for everybody."
