Rowetta to See Lawyers After Cheryl Cole Used Her Vocals at BRITs

Rowetta, who is left disappointed when knowing Cheryl Cole used her vocal without asking her permission during her BRIT Awards performance, will consult with her lawyers.

Former Happy Mondays singer Rowetta is threatening legal action against Cheryl Cole after the singer allegedly used a sample of her vocals at the BRIT Awards without permission. Rowetta - full name Rowetta Satchell - was approached by Cole's representatives who asked to use her dancefloor hit "Be" in a performance at the show in London on Tuesday, February 16.

But Rowetta was left fuming when they snubbed her offer to sing live at the event, revealing plans for an unknown backing singer to lip sync the vocals instead. The singer alleges Cole's reps assured her they would choose a different sample to use at the show and she was stunned when she watched the performance of Cole's hit "Fight for This Love" and heard her voice used in the track.

In a series of posts on her Facebook.com page, Rowetta writes, "Can't believe they used my sample at The Brits, after saying they'd have to use something else, because they didn't want me to sing it there. Very flattered, but also disappointed! Haven't been able to get hold of anyone at (record label) Polydor this morning, they're probably still hungover from all the parties! We will be seeing our lawyers."
