AceShowbiz - Adrienne Bailon and her husband Israel Houghton have forked out a big fortune on her fertility journey. In a new interview, the ex-member of girl group The Cheetah Girls revealed that her IVF treatments cost more than $1 million.
"I only did eight cycles of IVF, but that doesn't include the amount of IUIs I did and every other kind of imaginable treatments that you could imagine for fertility," the 40-year-old said during a sit-down with PEOPLE. "So it was a pretty tough six years of trying to have my son."
When asked how much it cost, Adrienne divulged that she and her spouse spent "easily over a million" dollars. She added, "And that is not realistic for the average person. And I recognize that."
Adrienne has been open with her fertility journey over the years. In a 2018 episode of her former talk show, "The Real", she shared, "I think that as an audience we should be sensitive to the fact that everybody doesn't get pregnant right away... I think for myself I thought it would happen so easily for me and it just hasn't happened that way."
Adrienne welcomed son Ever James with her husband via surrogate in August 2022. The actress broke the baby news by sharing a black-and-white photo of her cradling her baby. Her man, meanwhile, was sitting next to her.
"Ever James. For this child we have prayed. Just to hear our baby cry. Skin to skin and face to face. Heart to heart and eye to eye," she began her caption. "Our baby boy is here & we are so in love! If you have followed our love story… you know that our journey to baby has been very challenging - But God is true to His word and His promises."
"We have quietly prayed while sitting on this most magnificent secret for the last 9 months. He is worth every tear, every disappointment, every delayed prayer, every IVF cycle, every miscarriage. Everything," the proud mom continued. "All we feel is joy and overwhelming love & gratitude. Grateful to God, to our angel surrogate and to all of our friends and family who have stood with us for over 5 years on this journey... He's here and we have never been happier to lose sleep! #HappilyEverHoughton."
