The Hollywood producer herself reportedly regrets tearing the 'Euphoria' star down after saying at an event that the 26-year-old star is 'not pretty' and 'can't act.'

AceShowbiz - Sydney Sweeney is not letting others, not even a top Hollywood exec, reduce her value. The actress has fired back at Carol Baum after the producer made unwarranted comments about the "Anyone but You" star.
Sweeney's representative issued a statement to news outlets on Wednesday, April 17 in response to Baum's remarks. "How sad that a woman in the position to share her expertise and experience chooses instead to attack another woman," the statement began.
"If that's what she's learned in her decades in the industry and feels is appropriate to teach to her students, that's shameful," it continued to read. "To unjustly disparage a fellow female producer speaks volumes about Ms. Baum's character."
Baum, a longtime Hollywood producer who has produced films like "Dead Ringers", "Father of the Bride" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", ripped Sweeney apart during a discussion in Pleasantville, N.Y., with New York Times film critic Janet Maslin.
"There's an actress who everybody loves now - Sydney Sweeney," Baum said, according to Daily Mail. "I don't get Sydney Sweeney. I was watching on the plane Sydney Sweeney's movie because I wanted to watch it," she added, referring to the actress' movie "Anyone But You".
"I wanted to know who she is and why everybody's talking about her," Baum continued. "I watched this unwatchable movie- sorry to people who love this movie - [this] romantic comedy where they hate each other."
Referencing the producing class she teaches at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, the producer recalled, "I said to my class, 'Explain this girl to me. She's not pretty, she can't act. Why is she so hot?' " She continued, "Nobody had an answer but then the question was asked, 'Well if you could get your movie made because she was in it, would you do it?' "
Baum has not publicly addressed her disparaging remarks about Sweeney, but she reportedly regrets making the comments. According to TMZ, the producer is "already expressing regret over the whole thing" and "wishes she never would've made her original comments."
She told the site she has received tons of hate mail over this as many came to the "Euphoria" star's defense, including producer Teddy Schwarzman, who worked with Sydney on "Immaculate". He penned on X, formerly Twitter, "As a producer of #Immaculate, I'll enlighten Ms. Baum that two-time Emmy nominee Sydney Sweeney is not only one of the most talented actresses I've worked with, but also incredibly smart, kind and humble."
"I'm not sure why someone who claims to still be a producer would make such terribly ugly comments, but I can assure everyone that Sydney is at least beautiful on the inside," he added. "And, of course, a bada** Scream Queen."
