The 'Un-Break My Heart' hitmaker has bravely shared her harrowing journey with lupus, shedding light on the struggles and triumphs she has faced along the way.

AceShowbiz - Grammy-winning singer Toni Braxton has candidly opened up about her arduous journey with lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease.

Braxton's diagnosis came in 2008 after a decade of uncertainty and misdiagnoses. She visited "at least" six doctors before finally being diagnosed by rheumatologist Dr. Daniel Jeffrey Wallace. Prior to that, she had presented with symptoms reminiscent of chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia.

During this time, Braxton experienced a series of health incidents, including collapsing onstage in New York City in 2007. Doctors initially suspected a precancerous condition. Years later, she collapsed again in Las Vegas and was airlifted to Los Angeles, where Dr. Wallace diagnosed her with lupus.

Braxton also discussed her struggles with breast implants, which she initially believed were causing her chest tightness. However, after having them removed, her symptoms persisted, eventually leading to a diagnosis of microvascular angina and pericarditis.

Braxton's lupus diagnosis had a profound impact on her personal and professional life. She recalled having two successful pregnancies but being forced to terminate a third due to health complications related to lupus.

Additionally, her career was initially jeopardized by the stigma surrounding "sick celebrities." She faced difficulties getting insurance and booking work.

Despite the challenges, Braxton has chosen to remain optimistic and is preparing for an upcoming Las Vegas residency with Cedric the Entertainer. The two have known each other for many years and share a deep connection.

The residency, titled "Love & Laughter," is scheduled to debut at the Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on April 27. It promises a unique blend of music and comedy, with a vibrant stage spectacle featuring lighting, dance, and Braxton's signature vocal performances.

Cedric the Entertainer's mother passed away from lupus complications, so the cause is particularly close to his heart. He has been a steadfast supporter of Braxton throughout her health journey.

Braxton's story highlights the importance of seeking timely and accurate diagnosis for chronic conditions like lupus. She urges others to trust their instincts and advocate for their own health.

She also emphasizes the crucial role of support networks in managing lupus. Braxton expresses immense gratitude for the support of her family, friends, and colleagues, especially Cedric the Entertainer. Together, they face the challenges of lupus with resilience and determination.
