AceShowbiz - Shaquille O'Neal has broken his silence over claims suggesting that he was trying to flirt with Ice Spice. On "The Big Podcast With Shaq", the former NBA player explained the reason why he gushed over the "Princess Diana" hitmaker in his social media post that later went viral.
The 52-year-old podcast host shut down speculations about him shooting his shot at the 24-year-old hip-hop artist. In the Wednesday, March 27 episode of the podcast, he said, "The reason why I put out the post with Ice Spice, not 'cause I was trying to flirt, but I didn't really blow her off, but I just wanted to show her some respect too."
Shaq went on to explain, "That's why I put the post up because I was in there and it was all about, 'Oh, Shaq met Taylor' and [Ice Spice] was in the picture." He elaborated, "So I had to come back and say, 'Oh yeah by the way this little woman is fine too.' "
The Los Angeles Lakers legend further pointed out, "But you got to understand the Shaq don't - I don't flirt like that." He then revealed, "My flirting is unorthodox," before stressing, "Hold on, just 'cause I say 'hi' don't mean I'm tryna slide in the DMs."
The statement came more than one month following Shaq and Ice's meet-up. In February, the two made an appearance at the Super Bowl separately. When Shaq was meeting singer Taylor Swift in her suite, he also brushed shoulders with Ice, who was in the same suite. The three of them, who were joined by their pals, took a group picture together.
Later on, Shaq made use of Instagram to upload the photo. In the snap, he could be seen standing behind Ice and next to Taylor as he placed his hands on their shoulders. Along with the picture, he praised Ice in the caption of the post, "And @icespice is so dam fine thanks @taylorswift," prompting many social media users to believe that he was flirting with the "Think U The S**t (Fart)" rapper.
