The actress portraying Pepper Potts in the 'Iron Man' film franchise reveals that she is becoming an empty nester since her 17-year-old son will leave for college soon.

AceShowbiz - Gwyneth Paltrow has opened about her feelings before becoming an empty nester. In a newly-published interview, the actress portraying Pepper Potts in the "Iron Man" film franchise admitted to feeling "incredible sadness" because her son is set to leave her home for college soon.

Speaking to the Sunday Times on Sunday, March 23, the 51-year-old Oscar-winning actress revealed, "In the fall, Brad and I have boys that will be going off to university." She was making a reference to her husband Brad Falchuk, her son Moses and Brad's son Brody.

Gwyneth went on to say, "It'll be interesting to see how the morning routine changes with no kids in the house. On the one hand, incredible sadness. A deep sense of impending grief. On the other hand, this is exactly what should be happening."

The "Avengers: Endgame" actress further explained, "Your kids are supposed to be, you know, young adults who can achieve and cope and make connections and be resilient. That's exactly what you want. And that means they leave the house."

During the chat with the magazine, Gwyneth also talked about motherhood. Noting that she has been "been so defined and so fulfilled by motherhood," she elaborated, "It's like the guiding force. It's what I return to."

"I observe a lot of my friends who've had kids who've gone off to college," the actress continued. "Your kid, it changes. And you know, they come home a lot and all that stuff, but it's not quite the same as living under the same roof all the days of the year. So I'm just trying to be open to what that means."

Gwyneth has 17-year-old Moses with her former husband Chris Martin. Aside from Moses, she shares a 19-year-old daughter named Apple with the Coldplay frontman. The actress and the 47-year-old singer were married from 2003 to 2016. Following their split, she tied the knot with Brad, who is a father to 17-year-old Brody and 19-year-old Isabella, in 2018.
