In a new interview, the 'Vampire Diaries' actor details his decision to leave acting after he, his wife Nikki Reed and their two young kids relocate to a farm outside Los Angeles.

AceShowbiz - Ian Somerhalder confirmed his decision to leave the acting career to have a simpler life. In a new interview, "The Vampire Diaries" actor detailed the matter and how different his current farm life is.

"I love what I did for a really long time," the heartthrob got candid when speaking to E! News at the premiere of his documentary "Common Ground" on January 11. "I don't miss any of it. I love making films, and I just did it for so long. We had an amazing run."

While gesturing to his wife Nikki Reed, Ian went on to say of his new rural life, "But this is our 2.0 version. About to be 3.0 version."

"Common Ground" offers an in-depth look at the "regenerative agriculture" movement and explains how the practice could help reverse the impact of climate change. Ian and Nikki serve as executive producers for the project because of its focus on creating a brighter future for the next generation - including their own children.

"When you see the way that nature operates, you find compassion," Nikki elaborated, per the news outlet. "It's a beautiful thing to see what's happening with children, to watch them participate in the growing of their food and the understanding of what food is and where it comes from."

Of her personal journey, the "Twilight" actress said, "I started connecting the dots between what you do for the planet and what you do for yourself. It's an evolution and a lifelong pursuit. It's become a way of living so much simpler."

Alongside their two young kids, Ian and Nikki have been residing in a farm outside of Los Angeles. "We're farm people, we produce most of our own food," the actor, who shares 6-year-old daughter Bodhi and an infant son with the "Thirteen" actress, said in a separate interview with E! News last year. "I live in my cowboy boots."

The couple tied the knot in 2015 in an outdoor ceremony in Topanga, California, outside Los Angeles. On the big day, Nikki looked stunning as she wore a Claire Pettibone gown.
