AceShowbiz - Sophia Bush's ex Grant Hughes has broken his silence amid her dating rumors with Ashlyn Harris. Following reports that the actress has recently started seeing the soccer star, the businessman has expressed his unwavering support for his estranged wife.
Grant responded to the dating rumors on Wednesday, October 18. "Grant will always want the best for Sophia," his representative said in a statement to several news outlets, "and is supportive of all that makes her happy and fulfilled."
Grant issued the statement just one day after news broke that Sophia is now dating Ashlyn amid their respective divorces. A source told Page Six of their relationship, "It's very new. They are definitely a couple."
Another source from inside their social circle dished to PEOPLE, "After being friends for years, and running in the same social circles, Sophia and Ashlyn went out on their first dinner date a couple of weeks ago. This is so recent, and they are both beginning new chapters."
"Although it's new information to the public, Ashlyn and Ali's divorce began months ago and they have been living apart since the summer," the insider added, noting that "there is no salacious story" when it comes to Sophia and Ashlyn's recent coupling, "though the public may want there to be."
The rumored couple was seen together in photos posted to social media by Canadian soccer player Selenia Iacchelli last week. The twosome appeared to hang out together with friends during what seems to be a girls' night out.
Sophia filed for divorce from Grant in August after only 13 months of marriage. Meanwhile, Ashlyn filed for divorce from his wife, fellow soccer pro Ali Krieger, in September. Following the dating rumors, Ashlyn has removed "proud wife" from her Instagram bio.
Sophia herself has neither confirmed nor denied the dating speculation. The actress, who was previously married to her former "One Tree Hill" co-star Chad Michael Murray, has never been publicly dating a woman before. Back in 2011, when responding to a speculation about her sexuality, the 41-year-old actress insisted via X, formerly known as Twitter, "I'm straight, but if it's true that knowing a gay person can change opinions about gay rights, then think of me as being as gay as can be!"
