After announcing that the sequel production will start in early July, Marvel Studios president confirms that it will not be primarily set in New York like its predecessor.

AceShowbiz - Very little is known about plot details of "Spider-Man: Homecoming" sequel. However, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige offered a new detail of the upcoming movie. Speaking to io9 on Sunday, April 22, Kevin confirmed that "Spider-Man: Homecoming 2" would not be set primarily in New York like its predecessor.

In the interview, Kevin revealed that the movie would start the production in July. "We start filming early July," he said. "We film in London. We shot first film in Atlanta. And we shoot a lot of films in London but there's another reason we're shooting in London which is, yes, Spidey, of course, will spend some time in New York, but he'll spend some time in other parts of the globe."

Kevin did not further elaborate other reasons why Peter Parker would travel outside New York. However, he revealed that it had something to do with whatever would happen to the character and whatever he would do in "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers 4".

Kevin continued, "The way 'Civil War' and the fact that he went to Leipzig Airport and then has to go back to school, informed 'Homecoming', the two 'Avengers' films that precede [the sequel] will greatly inform, probably even more so, the next movie."

It was confirmed that Jon Watts would return as director. By the end of August 2017, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers sealed the deal to pen the screenplay. Tom Holland's Peter Parker, Zendaya Coleman's Michelle "MJ" Jones and Jacob Batalon's Ned, Peter's best friend, will return in the sequel.

There was a rumor saying that Marvel was looking for a 20-year-old French actress to play a "femme fatale." Many fans believed that the aforementioned character was Black Cat, but other people believed that the character would be Gwen Stacy. If the latter turned out to be true, then Gwen would be a foreign exchange student in the sequel. However, now that it's been revealed that the production heads to London, then maybe Peter will be the foreign student.

After all, nothing is certain. Fans should wait for the upcoming "Avengers: Infinity War" that will hit U.S. theaters on April 27, and also "Avengers 4" that has been slated for May 3, 2019, to figure out what happens to Spider-Man that makes him have to roam around the world.

"Spider-Man: Homecoming 2" is set for a July 5, 2019 release.
