Malin Akerman to Star as Monsters' Leader in The Rock's 'Rampage'

The 'Billions' actress will possibly take the role of the movie's villain, 'a calculating head of a tech company that is behind the monsters.'

"Billions" star Malin Akerman is reportedly in talks to star in "Rampage", starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The "Misconduct" actress will potentially portray the movie's villain, "a calculating head of a tech company that is behind the monsters."

Should the deal be sealed, Malin will join the previously-announced cast including Naomie Harris, Joe Manganiello, Marley Shelton, P.J. Byrne, Jack Quaid, Matt Gerald, Breanne Hill and Jake Lacy. Jake will take the role of Malin's on-screen brother.

Based on the 1980s arcade game of the same name, "Rampage" will feature monstrously transformed gorilla, crocodile and wolf, which later will wreak havoc on North American cities and landmarks. The Rock will play the world's only hope of stopping the gigantuous monsters.

"Rampage" is set to begin filming in April in Atlanta. The movie will be produced by Beau Flynn, John Rickard, Hiram Garcia and Brad Peyton, who will also serve as director. The Rock will executive produce the film alongside Dany Garcia, Marcus Viscidi and Jeff Fierson.

"Rampage" is scheduled to be released in U.S. theaters on April 20, 2018.
