AceShowbiz - "The Flash" movie has been gearing up for production early next year, but it's once again facing a roadblock. "Dope" helmer Rick Famuyiwa was initially hired to replace Seth Grahame-Smith, who dropped out of the project earlier this year, but he has cut ties with Warner Bros. and DC due to "creative differences," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"When I was approached by Warner Bros. and DC about the possibility of directing 'The Flash', I was excited about the opportunity to enter this amazing world of characters that I loved growing up, and still do to this day," Famuyiwa said in a statement. "I was also excited to work with Ezra Miller, who is a phenomenal young actor."
However, the helmer's "vision in making a movie with more edge clashed with the studio's take." He explained, "I pitched a version of the film in line with my voice, humor, and heart. While it's disappointing that we couldn't come together creatively on the project, I remain grateful for the opportunity."
He added, "I will continue to look for opportunities to tell stories that speak to a fresh generational, topical, and multicultural point of view. I wish Warner Brothers, DC, Jon Berg, Geoff Johns and Ezra Miller all the best as they continue their journey into the speed force."
The movie is already in pre-production and heads toward a March 2017 start date for a March 16, 2018 release in U.S. theaters. Sources say that Famuyiwa's departure will likely postpone the movie's production and release date as Miller already has a commitment in July.
