FX CEO John Landgraf says they intend to keep the theme a secret until the sixth season airs this fall, so they made many trailers with 'different genres, different places.'

AceShowbiz - If you still can't guess what the theme of "American Horror Story" season 6 is, it's because they intend to keep it a mystery. FX CEO John Landgraf said at the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Tuesday, August 9 that they wouldn't reveal the theme until the sixth season airs this fall.

What about the speculations that arose after several teasers for the upcoming installment were released? Don't trust them! Landgraf has said that most of the promo videos don't really offer a hint at what the sixth season would be about.

"Every year, we've basically laid out the themes, the new genre that Ryan's going to be approaching, and we just thought [this year] it'd be really fun to keep it a mystery," Landgraf said. "So, we are. The scripts come in, and they've got my name emblazoned across them and there's only one script that comes into the company."

He went on sharing, "Everything's blacked out that might give away the [setting]... and what [head of marketing] Stephanie [Gibbons] and her team, with Ryan's help, did was they went out and made many more trailers than you've actually seen for hypothetical seasons of 'American Horror Story'. Different genres, different places. I think they're really fun and funny and beautifully, artfully made... and a lot of them are accurate. The others are all misdirects."

Asked about a possible endgame for the show, he said, "We haven't talked about an endgame... all good things must come to an end but so far, as long as Ryan keeps coming up with inventive and original new ideas, as long as the audience seems to want to see it, I think that's the genius of this anthological miniseries idea which Ryan really invented...it's only the limits of your stories and imaginations that ends the show. So, only time will tell."

Also at the show's TCA panel, Sarah Paulson confirmed her return for season 6. She's joining Lady GaGa, Angela Bassett and Cheyenne Jackson who are officially on board the sixth chapter.

The new season of "American Horror Story" debuts September 14 at 10 P.M. ET on FX.
