AceShowbiz - There have been rumors about Britney Spears being set to perform her new single at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards. The organizers did nothing but fuel the reports when they unleashed a new ad featuring footage from the pop diva's performance at last year's event.

In the video, a snippet of the 34-year-old singer debuting her "Pretty Girls" with Iggy Azalea at the 2015 BBMAs appears on the screen in between some short clips showing the likes of Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber.

Among those stars, Britney is the only one who's not nominated for any awards at the upcoming festivity. So, performing on the stage seems to be the only way she can be a part of it.

Britney is now preparing the release of her new single, "Make Me (Oooh)". The song, due out sometime in May, will lead her new album that is expected to arrive in June.

The 2016 BBMAs will be broadcast live on ABC from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on May 22 at 8 P.M. ET/5 P.M. PT with Ludacris and Ciara as co-hosts. Pink, DNCE and Shawn Mendes are among stars having been confirmed as performers. Also in the line-up is The Go Go's, who will celebrate the 35th anniversary of their hit "We Got the Beat" at the ceremony.
