"The VMAs deliver some of pop culture's most defining moments and we're grateful to our New York home and Madison Square Garden for rolling out the red carpet for what is sure to be the biggest night in music."

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio also commented on the VMAs' return to the city, saying that he's "excited." He added, "From the red carpet to the accolades to the performances - and everything in between - the VMAs are an incredible showcase for so many talented artists."
