The singer says in a statement that Petra Collins was the one who approached her and offered to create the video, which features a cameo from Tavi Gevinson.

AceShowbiz - Carly Rae Jepsen has dropped the music video for "Boy Problems" off her latest album. After the clip leaked online a few days ago, the Canadian singer officially made it available on her Vevo page Friday, April 8.

The three-and-a-half minute video directed by Petra Collins opens with Jepsen, after breaking up with her boyfriend, spending the rainy night alone in her room. Later, she invites some of her girl friends for a dance party. Also included in the visuals is a fake funeral featuring one of the girls lying inside a coffin while taking selfies.

"Boy Problems" appears on Jepsen's highly-underrated album, "E.Mo.tion", which came out last year to rave reviews. According to the 30-year-old songbird, Collins loved the song and reached out to ask if she could make its music video, in which Tavi Gevinson makes a cameo.

"What she didn't know is that I had been following her online via Instagram and other outlets for a while and had become a HUGE fan of her photographs and artwork. I think she has a very gifted eye for a refreshing look at youth and beauty and the way she plays with color always stands out to me," she praised Collins in a statement. "So the answer was an immediate YES!"

"We met that first day in New York and were giddy with creating something new together and I am so pleased for how the dark and glittery scenes we imagined turned out. I hope you enjoy it!" she added.
