The 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' host will return as the emcee of the Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 18.

AceShowbiz - Jimmy Kimmel returns as the emcee for the 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. The ABC late-night star will be hosting the ceremony which is held Sunday, September 18 and will air live on the network from L.A.'s Microsoft Theater.

"I am hosting the #Emmys on Sunday Sept 18. Until then, have a great summer," so the "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" host tweeted to announce his Emmy gig. It marks his second time hosting TV's biggest event of the year after 2012's Emmy Awards, which also aired on ABC.

"Jimmy Kimmel is the consummate showman," ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey said of the funnyman. "With Kimmel at the helm, expect to be at the edge of your seat for a bigger, bolder and better-than-ever Emmy event."

Kimmel is considered a safe choice for the gig by critics. At the 64th Emmys, his first time hosting the event, he was expected to deliver jabs at execs in the industry, but he was being a "professional, unremarkable and unembarrassing" host instead, as described by The Hollywood Reporter.
