Is 'The Punisher' Spin-Off in the Works? Netflix Reacts to the Rumors

Netflix boss Ted Sarandos says it's 'Marvel's decision,' not theirs to determine which character will get his own TV series next.

AceShowbiz - Ahead of his highly anticipated debut on "Daredevil" season 2, Jon Bernthal's The Punisher a.k.a. Frank Castle was rumored to get his own TV series. TVLine first broke the news, noting that this possible new series would mark the sixth joint project for Netflix and Marvel following "Daredevil", "Marvel's Jessica Jones", the upcoming "Luke Cage", "Marvel's Iron Fist" and "The Defenders".

But it appears that nothing has been set in stone about the rumored spin-off. Responding to the reports, Netflix boss Ted Sarandos said, "That's Marvel's decision, not ours. We have the pleasure of introducing Frank Castle into this world." He added, "Any character that's in there is on the table ... It's always possible. All the characters in the universe could also spin out."

Sarandos sounded more like trying to avoid the question rather than denying the spin-off rumors. But that's the only response we could get from those involved in the said project so far, since Marvel declined to comment on the reports.

Meanwhile, fans can expect to see Jon Bernthal's The Punisher in the second season of "Daredevil" which is scheduled to arrive March 18 on Netflix.
