AceShowbiz - Shortly after releasing an official statement on her brother Michael Cavallari's death, Kristin Cavallari penned a touching tribute to him on Instagram. The former "The Hills" star posted a photo of the two of them as toddlers and expressed how news of his death had broken her heart.
"My heart is in a million pieces," Kristin, 28, wrote on Instagram on Thursday, December 10. "Mikey, I could always count on you to make me laugh. You had such a good heart and will be forever missed. I'm at a loss for words but I know u are in a better place and finally at peace. I love u so much RIP."
A source told PEOPLE that Kristin was very close to her brother and was always protective of him as he struggled with troubled past. "She was always trying to help him," the source said.
Michael's body was found on Thursday at 10:30 A.M., two weeks after he went missing. According to the Grand County Sheriff's Office, his 2014 Honda Civic was found abandoned five miles south of exit 175 on I-70. Investigators believed the car, which was still running when found, had hit a large rock because the airbag was deployed. His laptop, cell phone and receipts remained intact inside the car.
