'The Flash' / 'Arrow' Crossover Clip Reveals Why Vandal Savage Is After Hawkgirl

Carter Hall a.k.a. Hawkman gives brief explanation about his and Kendra Saunders' background story and how they are related to Vandal in the video.

AceShowbiz - Why Vandal Savage hunts down Kendra Saunders a.k.a. Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee) and Carter Hall a.k.a. Hawkman (Falk Hentschel)? Carter himself answers the question in a clip from the first part of "The Flash" / "Arrow" crossover and in the process reveals his and Kendra's background story.

In the video, Carter is chained up as Oliver (Stephen Amell), Barry (Grant Gustin) and friends ask him what he knows about the villain, Vandal. Carter says that he and Kendra are the reincarnations of Prince Khufu and Princess Shayera and Vandal kills them in every lifetime in order to gain more power.

Barry thinks the only way to solve the problem is to get rid of Vandal. That sounds easy, but Carter doubts that Barry and Oliver will be able to do that. "Well, you can't get rid of him, my friend," Carter says, but Barry replies, "Oh yeah? Watch us!"

The first part of the crossover event, "Legends of Today", will air Tuesday, December 1 at 8/7c on The CW. In the episode, Vandal Savage arrives in Central City and sets his sights on Kendra Saunders. After Vandal attacks Kendra and Cisco, they turn to Barry for help. Realizing how dangerous Vandal is, Barry takes Kendra to Star City and asks Oliver and team to hide her until he can figure out how to stop Vandal.

However, things quickly go from bad to worse when a man with wings a.k.a. Hawkman shows up and flies off with Kendra. Meanwhile, Harrison (Tom Cavanagh) develops a serum to make Barry run faster and asks Jay (guest star Teddy Sears) to test it out.

Carlos Valdes who plays Cisco reveals that his character is attracted to Kendra, but he has to let her go. "Hawkman comes and joins the team in this collaborative effort to get her to remember who she is and unearth this hidden legacy - this hidden person - inside her," he tells EW. "Cisco struggles the most because he's found something special in Kendra. In order for her to fully fulfill her destiny, she has to leave that. There's going to be a lot of conflict coming up in terms of how Cisco manages his relationship and also manages to allow Kendra to fulfill her destiny and chase after what she wants and needs. There's a lot of conflict there."

But executive producer Andrew Kreisberg thinks it's even more heartbreaking for Carter since "he remembers loving Kendra, and he remembers all the adventures they've had. And now he's staring at this woman looking at him like he's crazy." He adds, "There's a sadness about the whole thing because he knows how great it can be and how sad it is to look at her looking at him like he's a stranger."
