The revival of the animated series is promised to resolve some lingering plots, including the whereabouts of Arnold's missing parents.

AceShowbiz - Guess which beloved cartoon character is back! Nickelodeon is reviving "Hey Arnold!", an animated series than ran on the network from 1996-2004, as a TV movie. Variety first reported the news and E! News has confirmed it.

According to Variety, the revival will pick up where the original series ended and will resolve the questions left lingering when the TV show ended, including the whereabouts of Arnold's missing parents.

The classic TV series follows 9-year-old Arnold, an animated character who has a head shaped like a football. He lives with his grandparents in their boarding house in the city and gets into scrapes with his friends Gerald and Helga.

Nickelodeon has been bringing back its '90s shows in a programming block called "The Splat" which includes a rotating lineup including "Doug", "Clarissa Explains It All" and "Hey Arnold!". This TV movie, however, is the first new project in the network's move to make money from its classic programs.

There's no word on when the TV movie will premiere.
