Answering fans' questions on Periscope, Gigi says Joe asked her to a baseball game when they first met at the Grammys, but she said 'no' because she was 'so nervous.'

AceShowbiz - It turns out that Joe Jonas had to wait around seven years before he finally got to date Gigi Hadid. The 20-year-old model herself revealed during a Periscope chat on Monday, September 21 that her singer boyfriend first asked her out when she was 13.

"We met at the Grammys when I was 13 years old. And he asked me to a baseball game," said Gigi, who ended up saying "no" to Joe back then because she was "so nervous." She explained, "I literally didn't even know what it meant to hang out with a boy."

"And also, Grammys are on a Sunday, and I didn't want to tell him that I had school the next day, so I was like, 'No, maybe next time,' " she continued.

Despite her rejection, the two went on to become good friends. Gigi said that then-19-year-old Joe wrote his number on a piece of paper and gave it to her mother Yolanda Hadid who attended the event with her and her stepfather David Foster.

"And then we've been friends ever since," she added. "Except now. We're more than friends. Obvs."

Gigi and Joe went public with their relationship this summer, just a few weeks after she broke up again with Cody Simpson.
