The 'Jurassic World' director reveals that the sequel to the raptor movie is inspired by Ian Malcolm's quote in 'Jurassic Park'.

AceShowbiz - "Jurassic World" has earned more than $1.6 billion in worldwide box office, making it the third highest-grossing movie of all time. Since the raptor movie becomes a smash hit, it's not surprising that the team behind the massive franchise has been already busy preparing for "Jurassic World 2". Director Colin Trevorrow recently revealed several details about the sequel, including some inspirations for the story and characters that would pop up in the upcoming movie.

According to the director, the core idea of "Jurassic World 2" had been already mentioned in "Jurassic Park". "Honestly, the trilogy is articulated in 'Jurassic Park', it's all in there... 'Jurassic World' is all based on Ian Malcolm's quote, 'You stood on the shoulders of geniuses to accomplish something as fast as you could, and before you even knew what you had, you patented it, and packaged it, and slapped it on a plastic lunchbox, and now you wanna sell it.' That to me is 'Jurassic World', that's why I had all the product placement, that's what it was," the director revealed.

Trevorrow went on explaining that the upcoming movie would be different from the previous movie. The team wanted to present an extraordinary reptile movie because there were too many "dinosaurs chasing people around on an island movies."

"It will get to be a different kind of film. The audience has given us permission to a certain extent to take this to the next level, and I don't necessarily mean in scale, I feel very strongly that it's not about more dinosaurs or bigger and better dinosaurs, it's about using this as a starting point for a much larger story about our relationship with these animals and about animals in general and the dynamic created by bringing them back to life," Trevorrow pointed out.

He also confirmed that Chris Pratt's Owen and Bryce Dallas Howard's Claire would return, but their roles might be different from who they were in the previous movie. "Owen is going to be in it, Claire is in it and neither are going to be in the same place we left them in the first movie," Trevorrow said. "And even though Claire is the one who evolves the most over the trilogy, it's her story that mirrors this changing world."

"Owen has s**t to deal with. They've both opened Pandora's Box in 'Jurassic World' and both of them are responsible for different elements of it. And I think the way these characters are connected to these circumstances of what's happening, it's different than previous films," he added.

Trevorrow won't be returning to direct the "Jurassic World" sequel, but he will remain on board as a writer and producer. "Jurassic World 2" is scheduled for a U.S. release on June 8, 2018.
