The rapper/producer is donating all artist royalties he'll earn from what will be his first album in 16 years to help fund a new performing arts and entertainment facility for the kids in Compton.

AceShowbiz - Dr. Dre is giving away the money he'll earn from what's going to be his first album in 16 years. During Apple Music's Beats 1 radio show with Zane Lowe on Thursday, August 6, the rap mogul announced that he'd donate all of his artist royalties from "Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre" to help fund a new performing arts and entertainment facility in his hometown.

"I reached out to the Compton mayor's office, got in touch with the mayor, Aja Brown, and I've decided to donate all of my artist royalties from the sale of this album to help fund a new performing arts and entertainment facility for the kids in Compton," said Dre as quoted by Variety.

"I've been really trying to do something special for Compton and just couldn't quite figure out what it was," he added. "[Brown] actually had this idea, and she was already in the process of working on it. I said, 'Boom, this is what we should do.' "

The "Compton" album will accompany the upcoming N.W.A biopic "Straight Outta Compton", which opens in U.S. theaters on August 14. The 16-track LP, which also features appearances from Eminem, Ice Cube, Kendrick Lamar and Snoop Dogg among others, is arriving on August 7.
