'Nosferatu' Remake in the Works With 'The Witch' Director
Movie

Director Robert Eggers has been brought aboard to write and direct the classic horror based on Bram Stoker's gothic novel.

AceShowbiz - Studio 8 has planned a remake of 1922's silent movie "Nosferatu". According to Deadline, the studio has brought Robert Eggers aboard to write and direct the untitled Nosferatu remake.

Eggers will be joined by Jay Van Hoy and Lars Knudsen (Parts and Labor), who will produce the adaptation that is based on Dracula mythology. The classic 1922 film, which was directed by F.W. Murnau, starred Max Schreck as the rather hideous vampire Count Orlok, who finds himself interested in having a new residence.

"Nosferatu" was inspired by Bram Stoker's classic novel "Dracula". The film has been loosely remade by Werner Herzog in 1979 under the title "Nosferatu the Vampyre". It also becomes source material or inspiration for a number of films.

Eggers, a former production designer, previously wrote and directed horror flick "The Witch". Hence, it will be interesting to see how Eggers brings the horrific vampire of Eastern European folklore back to the screen.

Meanwhile, Eggers has a deal with the studio to write and direct medieval film "The Knight", which Van Hoy and Knudsen are also producing. Additionally, the producing duo produced "The Witch", "Beginners" and "Ain't Them Bodies Saints".
