'MTV won't let me perform... So I'm hosting this year's VMAs,' says the former Disney star, who made headlines for her controversial VMA performance with Robin Thicke in 2013.

AceShowbiz - Miley Cyrus is returning to the MTV Video Music Awards. Two years after her controversial performance with Robin Thicke, the former Disney princess is making an appearance at this year's event as a host.

Miley announced the news herself with a couple of photos she posted on her Twitter page on Monday, July 20. Dressing like a green alien, she wears sandwich boards that read, "MTV won't let me perform... So I'm hosting this year's VMAs."

"F**k yeah VMAs!!!!!" the singer captioned the images. This year's VMAs is airing on MTV on August 30 at 9 P.M. EST.

Back in 2013, Cyrus made numerous headlines for her now-infamous performance with Thicke. Clad in risque outfit, she twerked and showed off raunchy dance moves alongside the R&B star during "We Can't Stop" and "Blurred Lines". The onstage antics surprised everyone, including Thicke.

A year later, Cyrus attended the 2014 MTV VMAs and was honored with the Video of the Year Award for her "Wrecking Ball" clip. She had a homeless man she brought as a date accept her trophy.
