The extended promo shows Levi as a villain who hunts the heroes, Jack Coleman's Noah Bennet reuniting with Jimmy Jean-Louis' The Haitian.

AceShowbiz - "Heroes Reborn" unveiled a new, extended promo at its panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday, July 12. As if it's not exciting enough, the trailer reveals Zachary Levi as a villain on the upcoming NBC miniseries. He apparently is one of those who want to get rid of the heroes.

Some other scenes show the heroes being hunted. Some familiar faces like Noah Bennet (Jack Coleman), The Haitian (Jimmy Jean-Louis), Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg), Micah Sanders (Noah Gray-Cabey), Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) and Angela Petrelli (Cristine Rose) return, and they are here to save the world.

Creator Tim Kring told the audience attending the panel, "This isn't supposed to happen, where you get a second bite at the apple. Nine years ago we came here with a reel of film and a dream. ... We've had a long rest, a good night's sleep, and we're ready to save the world again."

He said that the 13-episode miniseries would retain the original mythos of the series. "The canon of the show remains intact," he explained. "It's very true to the mythology and the core canon of the show. We aren't deviating from anything."

Of the importance of bringing back Jack Coleman a.k.a. HRG, Kring said, "The lynchpin from the former cast was Jack and his character. HRG was a hub character that a lot of the other stories spun off of. It was really important for me to bring him back." As for Angela Petrelli's role in the storyline, he teased, "Angela plays a key Machiavellian character in this plot. She did have a power that was very interesting to our plot."

Kring additionally confirmed that the miniseries would come with accompanying videogames that will reveal the stories in between the end of the original series and the start of "Reborn". There are also six "e-novellas" and web series "Dark Matters" that will provide more background of the characters.

Also starring Kiki Sukezane, Judith Shekoni, Robbie Kay, Ryan Guzman, Francesca Eastwood, Gatlin Green, Rya Kihlstedt, Danika Yarosh and Henry Zebrowski, "Heroes Reborn" is set to premiere Thursday, September 24 at 8/7c on NBC.
