The 'Hunger Games' hunk is eyed for a major role in the Gareth Edwards-directed film while the 'Nightcrawler' actor is in negotiations to join the cast.

AceShowbiz - Sam Claflin and Riz Ahmed a.k.a. Riz MC are added to the rumored casting mix for "Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One". According to a scoop from TheWrap, Claflin is a frontrunner to play a lead role in the film which will arrive on December 16, 2016.

The only confirmed cast for "Rogue One" is Felicity Jones who will play a rebel soldier. Numerous reports claim Ben Mendelsohn joins the ensemble as well, but he always plays it coy when addressing the rumor in interviews.

Director Gareth Edwards envisions it as a war movie. It will take place between "Episode III" and "Episode IV" when there is no Jedi. It will follow "a rogue band of resistance fighters unite for a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans."

Sam Claflin is famous for his role as Finnick Odair in "The Hunger Games" series. He was last seen in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1" and will reprise his role in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2". Riz Ahmed, meanwhile, is fresh off his critically-acclaimed performance in "Nightcrawler" opposite Jake Gyllenhaal.
