Director Roland Emmerich revealed on Twitter on Friday, April 17 that Bill and Judd would be back in the sequel of the 1996 sci-fi disaster flick.

AceShowbiz - Bill Pullman and Judd Hirsch officially return for the sequel of "Independence Day". Director Roland Emmerich took to Twitter on Friday, April 17 to share the news to the movie's fans.
Roland shared two photos of Bill and Judd in the original 1996 movie. "Today we celebrate our #IndependenceDay sequel. Welcome back, Bill Pullman," the director shared alongside a photo of Bill's character President Thomas J. Whitmore.

While for Judd's character Julius Levinson's photo, he captioned it, "It's official... we're thrilled to have the GREAT Judd Hirsch grace the set of #IndependenceDay once again!"

Bill and Judd are not only the original cast members who are back for the follow-up film. Brent Spiner who played scientist Dr. Brackish Okun, Vivica A. Fox who played Will Smith's Steven Hiller's love interest and Jeff Goldblum who starred as computer expert David Levinson are also expected to reprise their respective roles.
Also starring in the sequel, which is plotted for June 24, 2016, are Liam Hemsworth, Jessie Usher, Joey King and Charlotte Gainsbourg.
