Louis Tomlinson is launching his own record label. As reported by British newspaper The Sun, the One Direction hottie's new project is being backed by Sony and will be a part of Syco label, Simon Cowell's record label Louis and his bandmates are currently signed to.
"This is something I've wanted to do for some time," Louis told the publication. "To be given the opportunity to potentially give new artists a platform is an incredible feeling. I hope to sign some really exciting new artists down the line."
The 23-year-old singer adds that he has signed his first artist, a finalist of U.K.'s "The X Factor" named Jack Walton. He will hold auditions for a new girl band in the near future.
The news comes just a few weeks after Zayn Malik quit One Direction to be "a normal 22-year-old." The band is currently taking a break from their world tour while also working on what will be their fifth studio album. The group's first Zayn-less effort is due out later this year.
