DreamWorks Animation and distributor 20th Century Fox have shifted release date for the family-friendly movie from March 18, 2016 to January 29, 2016.

AceShowbiz - DreamWorks Animation and distributor 20th Century Fox announced on Tuesday, April 14 that "Kung Fu Panda 3" release date moved up two months. The 3D sequel is now scheduled to be released on January 29, 2016.

The family-friendly flick was originally set to hit U.S. theaters on December 23 this year, but later moved to March 18, 2016 after the release of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was set for December 18, a few days earlier than "Kung Fu Panda 3" original release date.

The new date sets the popular animated flick up against Sony's YA adaptation "The 5th Wave" starring Chloe Moretz and Disney's Coast Guard drama "The Finest Hours" starring Chris Pine.

"Kung Fu Panda 3" will be directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson, who directed "Kung Fu Panda 2". Bryan Cranston, Rebel Wilson and Mads Mikkelsen will join the movie's original voice cast members including Jack Black, Gary Oldman, Dustin Hoffman, David Cross, Angelina Jolie, Michelle Yeoh, Danny McBride, Lucy Liu, Seth Rogen, Jackie Chan and James Hong.

The first two "Kung Fu Panda" films, which were released in 2008 and 2011, were honored with Academy Award nominations for Best Animated Feature Film. Both movies earned approximately $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office.
