The 'Dark Knight Rises' actor's name was reportedly circling amongst execs on Wednesday, March 25.

AceShowbiz - Ben Mendelsohn is reportedly circling a lead role alongside Felicity Jones in "Star Wars" spin-off "Rogue One". According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 45-year-old Australian actor's name was circling amongst execs on Wednesday, March 25.

Disney didn't make any comments on the possible casting and it's still unknown if any dealmaking is involved. Previously Aaron Paul and Edgar Ramirez were rumored to take on the male part.

Ben is currently starring on new Netflix series "Bloodline" alongside Kyle Chandler, Linda Cardellini and Norbert Leo Butz. The first season of the thriller-drama show premiered all its 13 episodes on March 20.

Ben has also appeared in some movies like "Exodus: Gods and Kings", "Black Sea", "Slow West", "Mississippi Grind" and "The Dark Knight Rises".

Disney announced "Rogue One" last week along with the announcement of "Star Wars Episode VIII" release date. Directed by Gareth Edwards and scripted by Chris Weitz, "Rogue One" is set to hit U.S. theaters on December 16, 2016. "Star Wars Episode VIII", meanwhile, will be directed by Rian Johnson and will be released on May 26, 2017. Another spin-off is expected to follow "Episode VIII" before "Star Wars Episode IX" bows in 2019.
