'The impact you had on our show and our lives is everlasting,' so the series co-creator pays homage to the late actor who had guest starred on the CBS sitcom.

AceShowbiz - Chuck Lorre remembers Leonard Nimoy by using "The Big Bang Theory" vanity card. At the end of the Thursday, March 5 episode, the series co-creator didn't share his weekly insights like he usually did. Instead, the vanity card featured a picture of the late actor with a caption which read, "The impact you had on our show and our lives is everlasting."

Nimoy, the original Spock depicter in "Star Trek" movies and TV series, died February 27 at his home in Los Angeles after battling end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He was 83. Around 300 people including his family, friends and former co-stars attended his funeral in L.A. last Sunday.

Nimoy, who is Sheldon's (Jim Parsons) hero, was never seen on "The Big Bang Theory" but he provided voiceovers for a sequence in which a Spock action figure talked to Sheldon.

The show had also featured some references to Nimoy, including in a season 2 episode where Penny (Kaley Cuoco) gave Sheldon a napkin that Nimoy used and signed at her restaurant. "I possess the DNA of Leonard Nimoy!" Sheldon excitedly said. "All I need is a healthy ovum and I can grow my own Leonard Nimoy."
